What is Seigaiha
Seigaiha has a literal meaning as blue ocean and waves. It represents the waves in the ocean by overlapping semi-circles only the upper parts are visible. This pattern was used for depicting the sea in ancient chinese maps. It has been used in ceramics, kimonos, and other ancient japanese clothing, and lacquerware since the beginning of the heian period (8th century). Meaning of this pattern is wishing good luck, power, and resilience.
Seigaiha Collection
Our interpretation of seigaiha consists of irregular sizes of hand-drawn wave units, each represented by elements related to sea or water, such as rain, water bubbles, fishes, and so on. We decidedto use this patterin into an oversize unisex fashion pieces.
